For the past three years, Barossa Council Public
Library has held the Santos Tour Down Under
Design a Jersey competition, much to the delight
of the region’s youth.
Co-ordinator of Library Events and Community
Engagement at the Nuriootpa branch, Ms Julie
Bailey believes the competition continues to be
a great way to get the young people of the region
involved and excited about the special event.
The competition ran from December 1 to January
9 with entry forms available from all Barossa
Library Branches as well as the Barossa Visitor
Information Centre in Tanunda.
The jerseys could be designed and decorated
using any medium and entries received were
coloured with textas and pencils, painted and also
created using decoupage techniques.
The entries submitted were again of a very high
standard and made choosing a winner a difficult
This year the entries have been judged by Mayor
Bob Sloane; Commentator of the Tour Down Under,
Mr Ed Westrich and Santos Tour Down Under
Barossa Working Party Secretary, Bronwyn Egarr,
in three age categories of 6 years and under, 7 to
12 years and 13 to 17 years.
Winners for first and second place will be chosen
in each age group and there will also be a People’s

The Barossa Library will also be providing family
activities at the Barossa Visitor Information Centre

Activities will include stories, Santos Tour Down
Under themed photo booth, colouring in and crafts.
There will also be face painting with Mad
Hatterz, Twisted Balloons and other fun activities
for children and families.
