Aussie Home Loans Brokers, have teamed up
with other local businesses to help out the less
fortunate in the Barossa Valley and district areas.
This project, which has been 12 months in the
making, kicks off on January 21, 2017 to provide
local produce from the Barossa Farmers Market
to food rescue charity, REAP by OzHarvest - a
national partner of Aussie.
At the end of each market day, store holders
at the Barossa Farmers Market will make excess
produce available at a collection area, where it
will be picked up by the group for distribution
to UCare in Gawler .
The project has been initiated by Aussie
Home Loans Brokers in the Barossa Valley,
Chris Secomb and Dianne Fraser, as well as Liz
Marslen, owner of Professionals in Gawler and
also Corey Miller of Adelaide Plains & Barossa
The group will take turns to collect the produce
from the market in their cars and transport it
to UCare in Gawler, who will cook the produce
and bring the finished meals back to the Barossa
Valley and districts’ homeless.

Australia’s unique terroirs and how they
influence wine style and quality is the centrepiece
of a six-year, $5.3 million investment in new
research and development (R&D) projects
announced today by Wine Australia.
Mr Brian Croser AO, Deputy Chairman of
Wine Australia, said, “Australia makes wines of
exceptional quality and finesse that reflect their
provenance and terroir, but they don’t currently
receive the international recognition they merit.
“It is these wines that will most quickly
elevate the image and reputation of all wines we
produce. We are focused on building international
recognition for our wines to increase demand and
the price paid for all Australian wines.
“We already know that unique Australian
terroirs exist and that climate, topography,
soil chemistry and soil physical properties are
the most important factors contributing to the
differences between wines from different sites.
“What these projects seek to do is to understand
how these environmental signals translate into
physiological changes in grapevines that result in
changes in berry composition and in turn result
in the expression of terroir in wines.
